AKWA IBOM UNVEILS INVESTMENT FACILITATION DESK TO DRIVE ECONOMIC GROWTH

 

The Akwa Ibom State Government has inaugurated the Akwa Ibom Investment Facilitation Desk (AK-IFD) as part of efforts to attract investment, streamline business processes, and accelerate economic growth.

The Desk was unveiled on March 31,2026, at the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) by the State Focal Person for State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) and Business Enabling Reform Action Plan (BERAP), Pastor Mfon Udoma.

Speaking at the event, Pastor Udoma noted that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s mandate under the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), which encourages Investment Promotion Agencies to work in synergy with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to simplify regulatory procedures, reduce bureaucracy, and enhance investor confidence.

Pastor Mfon Udoma, emphasized the need for strong inter-agency collaboration as the State awaits the PEBEC Memorandum of Understanding framework.

Udoma, who also serves as the State Focal Person, formally inaugurated members of the Desk, with Mr. Jacob Ikpe as the Head, Mr. Innocent Okure, Mr.  Namkere Akpan, Mr. Bassey Asuquo and Mr. UnyimeAbasi Ben as members.

 

In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AKICORP, Mr. Imo-Abasi Jacob, commended Governor Umo Eno, Ph.D for aligning the State with vibrant investment promotion strategies under the ARISE Agenda. He described the AK-IFD as a strategic one-stop platform designed to facilitate investment inflows, support job creation, mobilize private capital, and boost internally generated revenue.

He explained that the Desk would simplify investor engagement by providing a transparent and efficient process for investment, supported by a Service Charter that sets clear standards for accountability and service delivery.

According to him, the initiative is central to the administration’s vision of positioning Akwa Ibom as a leading investment destination in Nigeria.

The AKICORP Boss charged members of the Desk to remain committed to the State’s development mandate by upholding transparency, fostering stakeholder engagement, and ensuring consistent feedback from investors.

 

Also speaking, the Head of the Desk, Mr. Jacob Ikpe, described the inauguration as a significant step in repositioning Akwa Ibom’s investment landscape through measurable and results-driven outcomes. He stressed the importance of capacity building for team members to strengthen investor relations management and assured stakeholders of the Desk’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and strategic partnerships.

The Establishment of AK-IFD marks a key milestone in Akwa Ibom’s economic transformation agenda, with expectations that it will enhance ease of doing business and deliver measurable investment outcomes for the State.
