AKICORP INSPECTS NSIK OIL AND GAS FACILITY IN AKWA IBOM

 

The Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) has conducted an inspection visit to the Nsik Oil and Gas facility located at Uqua Isiedoho in Esit Eket Local Government Area, as part of its mandate to drive economic growth and investment in the State.

The visit, which took place on April 1, 2026 underscores the Corporation’s commitment to monitoring strategic private sector investments with the potential to generate employment and reduce poverty.

 

Representing the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AKICORP, Mr. Imo-Abasi Jacob, the Director of Project Monitoring and Implementation, Mr. Innocent Okure, expressed satisfaction with the level of work at the site. He noted that the physical infrastructure and general readiness of the facility indicate strong prospects for timely commencement of operations.

 

Okure commended the Promoter of the project, recalling his track record across multiple sectors. He observed that the transition from Nsik Motors to Nsik Construction and Engineering, and now to Nsik Oil and Gas, reflects a consistent trajectory of enterprise and delivery, expressing confidence in the project’s success.

AKICORP reiterated its role in facilitating and overseeing investments in the State, noting that the enabling environment created by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno continues to attract credible investors.


The Corporation also acknowledged the support of Federal institutions in advancing the Nsik Oil and Gas project.
The AKICORP team urged the Company to adhere strictly to its project timeline, expressing optimism that the facility would be ready for commissioning upon completion.

 

In his remarks, the Managing Director of Nsik Oil and Gas, Mr. Nsikak Johnny, described the project as a product of steady growth and perseverance. He disclosed that procurement and shipment of critical equipment had been completed, with delivery expected in phases from overseas suppliers.

According to him, installation of machinery is scheduled to be completed before July 2026, positioning the Company for take-off. He added that the project currently sits on over five hectares of land, with plans underway to expand to more than ten hectares to accommodate future growth.

 

Mr. Johnny further revealed that infrastructure development at the site has reached over 60 percent completion, including the administrative buildings, staff quarters, and safety-focused facilities such as a feed base for managing health hazards. Additional structures, including a cafeteria, are also in progress.

 

On feed stock arrangements, he confirmed that the Company has secured a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigerian Gas Company for the provision of raw gas, alongside partnerships with Frontier and Savannah Energy.

He commended the State Government for its investment-driven policies and described AKICORP’s inspection as a significant endorsement of the project.

He also called for continued collaboration with the State to ensure the successful delivery and expansion of the facility.
